Meta Censorship
Zuckerberg recently faced a lot of criticism for announcing in a public video that he would abandon Meta's third-party factchecking program. It seems few people have taken into account that those stringent policies and often seemingly random decisions have limited artists in their artistic output and freedom of expression
A few weeks ago this drawing of mine was removed on Facebook, because as they wrote, it went “against community guidelines regarding nudity or sexual acts”.
Zuckerberg told us beginning of this year that Meta's complex systems to moderate content had been making too many mistakes, and frustrating users, and were too often getting in the way of free expression, and they wanted to fix that and return to that fundamental commitment to free expression.
It’s another discussion if this is truly Meta’s intention, but it is clear that he promised the removal of this increasingly complex system limiting free expression.
So this evening as an experiment I decided to repost this drawing. Result? It was removed within one minute 😡
WTF
But at least I have my own website where I truly can express myself and maybe more artists should be aware that having and maintaining your own website is very important, because it’s the only place where you as a creator are truly in control.
