A voyage; of course it was one within the mind of the spectator. But why not add a real element? Make it a travelling project in every (real and imaginary) sense. I contacted the Over-het-IJ festival which takes place every summer at the ship dockyards (!) of Amsterdam North. It was to become a Transatlantic Project!

I needed a boat, the sketches weren't enough, they remained 2-dimensional. I started building a model. That way I could figure out the construction, see the right dimensions, discover the measurements for the real thing, solve formalistic problems in 3D. There it was, ready to go. Quickly I cut three flags out of paper, stuck them up the mast and it looked ready to sail. Now I just need a magic potion to blow up the model to 10 times its size………………….
